Inclusion and Collaboration:
From Teacher To Child
March 12, 2005
On a cold and blustery March day, over a hundred educators from
northeastern Illinois, gathered on the campus of Northeastern Illinois
University to express their commitment to the quality of education for
children with needs -- educational, social, behavioral, physical or
medical, and all special needs. This is really a commitment to
all children. Most participants were special educators, although
many general educators were present as well.
The day went perfectly, with no breakdowns or disappointments.
Enthusiasm and joy were present. Although we talked a lot about
the challenges and external pressures on this field of education,
everyone had a sense of relentless optimism and commitment that was
truly amazing and inspiring.
Thank you for participating in whatever way that you did. If you
participated by not being there, please consider coming to the next
event. It's never too late.
